Moose Tracks is a brand-new addition to North Fork Park, completed at the tail end of the 2024 riding season. This exciting trail connects with Mule Ear at two separate junctions and continues toward Cutler Creek, ending just east of the Bridge to Bicentennial. Moose Tracks also is the new highmark for trails in North Fork Park (Ben Lomond and Cutler Basin are excluded since they extend outside of the park) peaking at 6,556 feet. Mule Ear was the old champ at 6,519 feet.

Moose Tracks is a fun ride, but it’s not directly accessible from a trailhead—you’ll need to link it up via other trails. From the south, the most direct route is climbing up Mule Ear (a solid workout), while from the north you can access it by climbing Cutler Creek.

In our opinion, the best section of Moose Tracks is between the northern Mule Ear junction and Cutler Creek. While the trail is bidirectional, it rides best from south to north if you’re coming in from the Mule Ear (Mules trailhead) side. From there, you can link into Moose Tracks, ride it to Cutler Creek, and return via Connector. It makes for a rewarding loop with plenty of variety.

One of the coolest aspects of Moose Tracks is its abundance of “Side Quests”—optional features ranging from small jumps and narrow wooden skinnies to advanced drops and technical challenges. There are also a few “trail art” pieces, perfect for photo ops, and even a few benches if you need to catch your breath.

Constructed by Eden Valley Trails, Moose Tracks was designed with Adaptive Riders in mind. The trail blends smooth, flowing tread with high-banked berms and several fast, playful downhill segments. It’s a thoughtful and inclusive build that still delivers plenty of fun for intermediate and advanced riders.

On our first full ride of Moose Tracks, we parked near Cold Canyon, rode up the last stretch of TMF to Mule Ear, then climbed Mule Ear to the first Moose Tracks junction. For the return, we continued out to Cutler Creek, followed it to Connector, and finished with a descent down Mule Ear to Cinch and Pipeline, making our way back to the parking area. The total ride came in just under 7 miles (approximately 6.8), with a decent amount of elevation gain. Unfortunately, our GPS paused during the Moose Tracks segment, so we didn’t capture the full elevation profile—definitely a good excuse to go back and ride it again!

Moose Tracks is shaping up to be a versatile connector that opens up new loop options across the park, especially for those tackling bigger rides like the “Tour de Fork.” Whether you’re out for a casual spin or chasing features, this trail deserves a spot on your North Fork must-ride list.
